- Partial restoration -

(Bamboo Rod)

This is a partial restoration of a piece of bamboo history, a PAYNE of the early 1950s, sold by Abercrombie and Fitch Co., New York

My intervention was very small, in fact I only made a few interventions, also because the rod is in excellent condition, especially the famous PAYNE paint job which is still perfect.

The works carried out were :

- Regeneration of the Spanish cedar spacer.

- Re-blued of the female ferrule mounted on the butt section and wraps using the same original silk.

- Light sanding and reshaping of the western grip.

It was exciting and an honour for me to breathe and touch history while working on this magnificent jewel.

I hope that my friend and owner, as he has done so far, will still take good care of it and give it a long long life !

Questo è un parziale restauro di un pezzo di storia del bamboo, una PAYNE degli primi anni 50, venduta da Abercrombie and Fitch Co., New York. 

Il mio apporto è stato davvero ridotto, infatti ho effettuato solo alcuni interventi, anche perchè la canna è in ottime condizioni, soprattutto la celebre verniciatura PAYNE che è ancora perfetta.

I lavori effettuati sono stati :

- Rigenerazione dello spacer in cedro spagnolo.

- Ri-brunitura della ferrula femmina montata sul butt e relative rilegature utilizzando la stessa seta originale.

- Leggera rastrematura e risagomatura del western grip.

E' stato emozionante ed un onore per me respirare e toccare la storia lavorando su questo magnifico gioiello.

Mi auguro che il mio amico e proprietario, come ha fatto fino ad ora, ne abbia ancora molta cura regalandole una lunga lunga vita !

 "R"estyling Italian Bamboo | 6.9 2/3wt. 2pc

(Bamboo Rod)

 

 

This is a total restyling of a bamboo rod made by an Italian rod maker, with a beautiful non-uniform flaming.
The look of the rod is essential and clean. I wanted the only protagonist to be the magnificent bamboo.
The extra signature wraps give the barrel its uniqueness and a very classic scent.
I used a particular maple to recall the colours of the flaming, a very classic ergal hardware with a thin inner knurling entirely made in my lab, a beautiful red agate stripping guide, original guides, "H&H" and ghost wraps made with Pearsall's gossamer silk.
The rod is very light and has a fast action.

 

Questo è un restyling totale di una canna in bamboo costruita da un rod maker italiano, con una bellissima fiammatura non uniforme.
Il look della canna è essenziale e pulito. Ho voluto che l'unico protagonista fosse il magnifico bamboo.
Gli avvolgimenti extra della firma danno alla canna la una sua unicità ed un profumo molto classico.
Ho utilizzato un particolare acero per richiamare i colori della fiammatura, una meccanica classica in ergal con una sottile godronatura interna interamente realizzata nel mio lab, un bellissimo stripping guide in agata rossa, serpentine originali, "H&H" e legature ghost realizzate con seta Pearsall's gossamer.
La canna è molto leggera ed ha una azione veloce.
