My name is Paolo Bernabei,
I was born in Viterbo in 1971, I have done many things in my life, each of which has contributed significantly to the next steps.
I define myself as an eclectic romantic, attracted to antiquity, nature, music, science and with an immense passion for beauty in all its controversial aspects.
I arrived in the world of rod building about twenty years ago, but this passion was already present in me.
In fact, ever since I was a child, perpetually dissatisfied with my fishing rods because of their questionable aesthetics and some inefficient functionality, I was driven to make technical/aesthetic modifications that would finally satisfy my sense of taste and make my gear much more performant.
My workshop is located in Viterbo, a beautiful medieval town in central Italy, where I now work full-time as a rod builder. A special tribute goes to my wonderful black cat named ‘Isotta’, often a source of inspiration and balm against stress.
I work with graphite, fiberglass and bamboo blanks.
My mission is to create a sense of wellness by gripping a unique object, with a strong personality, technically impeccable and with a noteworthy aesthetic.
Finally to give a soul to an apparently inanimate object, created by using and forging the finest and most precious materials that nature offers us, becoming one with our hands to make each catch unique and memorable.

Mi chiamo Paolo Bernabei,
sono nato a Viterbo nel 1971, ho fatto molte cose nella mia vita, ognuna delle quali ha contribuito in modo significativo agli step successivi.
Mi definisco un eclettico romantico, attratto dall'antico, dalla natura, dalla musica, dalla scienza e con una smodata passione per il bello in tutti i suoi controversi aspetti.
Sono approdato nel mondo del rod building circa venti anni fa ma questa passione era già presente in me.
Infatti fin da bambino, perennemente insoddisfatto delle mie canne da pesca per via della discutibile estetica e di alcune funzionalità inefficienti , ero spinto ad apportare modifiche tecnico/estetiche che finalmente appagavano il mio senso del gusto e rendevano i miei attrezzi molto più performanti.
Il mio laboratorio è sito in Viterbo, una splendida cittadina medievale del centro Italia, dove oggi lavoro a tempo pieno come rod builder. Un tributo particolare va alla mia meravigliosa gatta nera di nome "Isotta", spesso fonte di ispirazione e balsamo contro lo stress.
Lavoro con grezzi in graphite, fiberglass e bamboo.
Il mio obbiettivo è suscitare un senso di benessere impugnando un oggetto unico, con una forte personalità, tecnicamente impeccabile e con un'estetica degna di nota.
Infine dare un'anima ad un oggetto apparentemente inanimato, creato utilizzando e forgiando le più raffinate e pregiate materie prime che la natura ci offre, diventando un tuttuno con le nostre mani per rendere ogni cattura unica ed indimenticabile.
