(Sakura Special n. 3)

This is the third Sakura Special I’ve completed.

It’s one of the progressive fibreglass blanks I like best.

A beautiful three-coloured agate (black, ghost and a small touch of yellow at the top), by "Joe Arguello", with serpentine beads by "SB", wrapped in transparent Japanese silk and black tips.

(There is just one small detail that makes them different), I prefer never to make two identical rods.

The grip is a classic slim-fit of mine, combined with a magnificent fragment of stabilised buckeye burl from the USA.

The stalk-ber down lock slide band hardware is made of ergal with a black POM inlay and copper back.

I also added 'Morgan Style' ergal ferrule rings covered in a Japanese pink silk.

I realised the corresponding ferrule plugs also in egal to complete the overall.

This little jewel has flown off to Eastern Europe and will be immersed in the waters of beautiful Bulgaria; I hope it will be a wonderful companion on many adventures.

Questa è la terza Sakura Special che ho realizzato.

E' uno dei grezzi in fiberglass progressivi che apprezzo di più.

Una bellissima agata tri-color (nero - ghost e un piccolo accento giallo in alto), by "Joe Arguello", serpentine di "SB", legate con seta giapponese color trasparente e filetti neri.

(C'è solo un piccolo dettaglio che le rende diverse), preferisco non realizzare mai due canne identiche.

Il grip è un mio classico slim-fit, unito ad un magnifico frammento di radica buckeye stabilizzata, proveniente dagli USA.

La meccanica stalk-ber down lock slide band, realizzata in ergal con un intarsio in POM nero e fondello in rame.

Ho aggiunto anche dei ferrule rings "Morgan Style" in ergal ricoperti da una seta rosa giapponese.

Ho realizzato i relativi ferrule plugs sempre in egal per completare tutto l'insieme.

Questo gioiello si dirige verso l'est Europa e si bagnerà nelle acque della bellissima Bulgaria, spero che sarà un'ottima compagna di avventure.

"The Black Pearl" by Yamame 8'9'' 3wt.

(Fiberglass Rod)

This is an E-Glass blank designed by my friend Nico from "Yamame fly rods" and made in the USA by Mike McFarland.

The blank is unpolished and has a deep dark, attractive black colour.

The rod has a very dark look, as requested; In fact, my client wanted the rod to evoke the feel of the famous "Pirates of the Caribbean" saga.

For the spacer, I used a specially selected fragment of bog oak (dating from between 5,000 and 7,500 years ago), on which I left the marks of time intact.

The hardware is a Ber-Classic in blued brass, the stripping guide is a classic "Mildrum" blued, the guides are by S.B., and the wraps are in grey Japanese silk with gun smoke accents.

The rod is very light, has a delicate progressive action and a deep flex, allowing the use of very fine tips and giving exceptional control over the line, also with roll casts.

This is undoubtedly one of the most interesting blank I’ve tried in recent years; it certainly has the potential to be a real emotional experience !

Questo è un grezzo in E-Glass progettato dal mio amico Nico di "Yamame fly rods" e realizzato in USA da Mike Mc Farland.

Il grezzo non è rettificato ed ha un colore nero profondo tenebroso e accattivante.

La canna ha un look molto "dark" come richiesto; Infatti il desiderio del mio cliente era quello che la canna evocasse l'idea della famosa saga "Pirati dei Caraibi".

Per lo spacer ho usato un selezionato frammento di bog oak (risalente a un periodo compreso tra 5.000 e 7.500 anni), su cui ho lasciato intatti i solchi del tempo.

La meccanica è una Ber-Classic in ottone brunito, lo stripping guide è un classico "mildrum" brunito, anellature di S.B. e legature in seta grigia con filetti gun smoke.

La canna è molto leggera, ha un'azione progressiva delicata e una flessione profonda, consente l'utilizzo di tip molto sottili e permette un eccezionale controllo della coda anche con lanci rollati.

Questo è un grezzo senz'altro interessante tra quelli che ho provato negli ultimi anni, può certamente regalare grandi emozioni !

MHX Gen 2 - 9'0'' 3wt. 4pc

Another MHX blank that I really like, with a matt carbon finish.

The rod has its usual sober and clean look, all in tones of honey yellow.

The grip is a classic Western style, combined with a magnificent spacer made from stabilised buckeye burl.

The hardware is a beautiful Lemke Concept, made totally of aluminium with a nickel-silver finish.

I have also added a set of "Morgan Style" ferrule rings, made in my workshop in Ergal for safety and for a superior aesthetic finish.

The rod has a fast but not overly aggressive action; it is very sensitive at the tip and makes for an excellent, lightweight all-round.

Un altro grezzo di casa MHX che apprezzo molto, con finitura matt carbon.

La canna ha un look sobrio e pulito come al solito, tutto sulle tonalità del giallo miele.

Il grip è un classico western, unito ad magnifico spacer in radica di buckeye, stabilizzata.

La meccanica è una bellissima Lemke Concept, tutta in alluminio con finitura nickel silver.

Ho aggiunto anche dei ferrule rings "Morgan Style" realizzati nel mio lab in ergal per sicurezza e per un effetto estetico superiore.

La canna ha un'azione veloce ma non esasperata, è molto sensibile in punta, un' ottima all-round leggera.
